Tuesday will see the first outing for Blackbird Power Racing for the first horse they purchased outright. It may only be a Provincial Class 1 1400m at Newcastle but to Blackbird Power Racing, it is so much bigger.

They want to break the stigma that racing is a long and costly past time. They purchased Special Day in late July 2023, specifically targeting her as a prospect that could deliver results in her current preparation once she stepped up in distance. She was promptly transferred to the teams Trainer in Paul Perry at Newcastle and within the month of her purchase she will race at the same track for $42,000 in Prize Money. 

A few days after arriving the mare had settled well into her surroundings and according to Stable Foreman Nathan Perry “She worked terrific on Thursday. Whilst the race will still be a touch short, she will definitely still be competitive”.
