Special Day produced a scintillating turn off foot to come from well off the pace on the home turn to finish a gallant fourth first up for Blackbird Power Racing at Newcastle today.

Over an unsuitable distance of 1400m, Jockey Regan Bayliss settled the five year old Mare in second last position before unleashing her run at the 600m to run the fastest last 600m, 400m and 200m splits of the race.

Upon returning to scale Regan was wrapped in the performance summing it up perfectly with “should win a couple this prep”. These thoughts were echoed by Stable Foreman Nathan Perry “I thought it was fantastic, very happy with that. Even the race caller said that was probably the black booker of the day”.

Special Day will now look to step up to 1600m for her next assignment where she will be well suited. We purchased her with races between 1600m and 2000m so these upcoming races will be right in her sweet spot. Where else could you get involved and be at the track, enjoying an exhilarating experience in such a short space of time.
